Unturned arrow quiver12/5/2023 Either have quivers function as a sort of magazine for bows, or have them act as an extra inventory that can only store arrows. I think the idea of a quiver is the perfect solution here, and it could even be implemented in multiple ways. I know bows are more of a starter ranged weapon, but the crossbow and compound bow at least should have some sort of viability endgame, instead of being outclassed by most other weapons easily. A similar thing could happen with bows, putting one arrow from the quiver in it, but taking significantly longer, potentially longer than using no arrows to give some reason not to use it beyond not having it.īasically, I can use most other weapons suppressed to get a very similar effect to the bow whilst being able to carry a lot more ammo. It has a magazine, but the animation for pulling back the bolt plays, preventing you from firing. However, it could work like the hunting rifle. Now immediately what comes to mind is rapidfire bowspam of death. Loading one into a weapon visually puts a small quiver on it, something like this. They'd take up 2 spaces like current arrows and hold 5 arrows, acting like a sort of magazine. Craftable could be made from cloth/leather, potentially only made by support with crafting skill, or potentially better versions made from support. Now, I don't want some big neon sign telling me where they are or for my arrows to teleport back into my bag, but rather, have it so it's less of a big deal if you leave a few behind in a fight, if you're in a hurry, or you just plain don't feel like it.Ĭraftable/Findable quivers. It's just not fun trying to figure out the exact spot a zombie died and pick up the arrow, especially in crowded areas or areas heavy in foliage. Being able to reclaim arrows is great and all, but it is quite tedious at times and not viable in many situations. Yes, not everyone will use military weapons or get the chance to do so, but right now, bows are fairly underpowered. I'm not going to go all "omg unrealistic" because this game isn't intended to be incredibly realistic. I'd just like to see other people's thoughts on it and give some feedback.īasically, as of right now, the inventory system makes them objectively useless unless you are incredibly low on ammo or have no other alternative.Ģ arrows takes up the same amount of space as a military drum or a box of ammo. And yes, I understand it is a testing branch. Personally, I loved using them in 2.0, but as of right now in 3.0, it's less so. I'd like to understand how people feel about them.
